Gibson ES-125 1941

This is a beautiful pre-war Gibson ES-125 1941. The Gibson ES-125 evolved out of the ES-100 (mainly because of inflation) in 1941. The first ES-125 with P-13 pickup were produced for only two years. This is because of material shortages due to WWII.

About the Gibson ES-125 1941

The (good readable) FON tells us that the guitar was made in 1941. This vintage Gibson has a spruce top and beautiful maple back and sides. The original tortoise pickguard is a real eye catcher on this guitar.

The mahogany neck has a soft V-shape with a Brazilian Rosewood fretboard and the action of the guitar is nice and low. On the headstock we find the typical “Gibson” script logo and non original Kluson tuners.

The Gibson has been French polished over the original finish. Somebody also placed two sound posts in the body + back bracings reglued, see photos. There’s also a repaired crack around the jack area and volume knob.

Comes with a non original case.
