About the Recording King M-3 1938
The Serial Number on the headstock tells us that the guitar was made in 1938. The Serial Number starts with “DW”. The “D” stands for 1938 and the “W” stands for Montgomery Wards. This workhorse has a solid carved Spruce top and laminated Maple back and sides. The original bound tortoise pickguard is a real eye catcher on this guitar.
The Mahogany neck has a chunky neck profile with a Rosewood fretboard. This Recording King is in remarkable condition. It’s survived the years beautifully and is without any cracks or damages. We only found a very old overspray on the sides of the body (see photos) and one of the tuning machines has been changed.
This vintage Gibson is strung with medium gauge bronze strings and the action is nice and low.
Comes with a gig-bag.
