A Shubb Fifth String Banjo Capo has been mounted on the neck, and one of the position markers has been adjusted, with the marker at the 10th position moved to the 9th fret. The side dots have also been adjusted; see photos.<\/p>\n

The banjo is currently equipped with modern Gotoh tuning machines and an upgraded tailpiece. However, the original tuning machines and tailpiece are still included and come with the instrument. The armrest has been replaced and is not original.<\/p>\n

This banjo comes from South Africa and has an engraved inscription on the back of the body: \u201c18 DEC 1959\u201d along with the name \u201cFlip Smit.\u201d The Gibson plays exceptionally smoothly and is clearly an instrument that has been well-maintained (and cherished) over the years!<\/p>\n

In short, an early, authentic vintage Gibson banjo featuring player-friendly upgrades, original parts, and a wonderfully broken-in tone. An instrument for the player who appreciates that vintage feel and authentic Gibson sound.<\/p>\n

This 1951 Gibson RB-100 is an early post-war Gibson banjo and a particularly fine vintage instrument. The RB-100 was Gibson\u2019s entry-level model for the serious 5-string player.
