About the Gibson J-45 1954
Manufactured in 1954 this J-45 comes from the best period in Gibsons history of high quality guitars. The beautiful round-shouldered dreadnought has a spruce top and mahony side and back. This gives the J-45 a recognizable full and warm sound. The frim C-shaped neck gives the guitarist a strong grip on the guitar when performing.
The tobacco sunburst finish has aged beautifully throughout the years. It does have a minor crack along the side of the guitar, but considering its age it is in great state. Like many old guitars this J-45 has had minor justifications to the bridge and there is one ‘dot’ missing. The J-45 also shows signs of a neck reset. The nut and the tuners have been replaced throughout the years as well. One of the previous owners has ‘customized’ the truss-rod cover by painting a fake binding alongside of it.
A big plus of this J-45 is that is still has the very wanted small tortoise pickguard. This is one of the last lines that had these. From 1955 and onwards the J-45 were issued with a bigger pickguard. The J-45 comes with a non-original case.
