Geib “Aeroplane Cloth” Gibson Case c. 1937-1942 – Deluxe Plush Lined
€ 0,00
Out of stock
An original Geib Aeroplane Cloth Case Deluxe Plush Lined from circa 1937-1942, produced exclusively for Gibson at the time.
This rare case features the distinctive black/red/black racing stripe and a luxurious “American Beauty” plush velvet interior. In the Gibson catalogs, these cases were referred to as “Aeroplane Cloth,” not tweed, and they were an optional, more expensive upgrade from the standard black Red Line cases.
The case dates from approximately 1937–1942 and features the Geib medallion, which was introduced around 1937. Originally, these cases were primarily supplied with 17-inch models such as the L-5, but they also fit perfectly with the Gibson L-7, L-10, and L-12.
The condition of the suitcase is excellent for its age: the Aeroplane Cloth (tweed) is neat and clean, all original latches work perfectly, and the purple plush lining is beautifully intact.
These cases with red/black/race stripes were made exclusively for Gibson by Geib. Geib did produce cases for other brands, but with different fabrics and patterns, making this version truly Gibson-specific and highly collectible.
An original vintage case, ideal for the serious Gibson collector or for those who want to transport their archtop in style.
Size: ~ 108 cm in length, ~ 44.5 cm at the lower bout, ~ 33 cm at the upper bout.
