The Gibson Byrdland was designed with input from legendary guitarists Hank Garland and Billy Byrd. The Byrdland is a piece of jazz history, ideal for players looking for a rich, warm tone and fast, smooth playability.
This Gibson Byrdland has a solid hand-carved spruce top and solid maple back and sides. The handsome Cremona Burst has aged beautifully over the years.
The 3-piece maple neck, without volute, with a 40mm nut width, has a bound ebony fretboard with mother-of-pearl block inlays. On the headstock we find a very tasteful stinger and the original Kluson Sealfast tuners with tulip keys.
In addition to being a collectors-grade guitar, it is also an insane player! This Gibson feels and plays wonderfully, with a nice low action from top to bottom. In 1974/75, Gibson switched from patent number stickers to stamped patent numbers. This Byrdland shows that change with a patent number sticker pickup in the neck and a stamped pickup in the bridge.
The original knobs have been replaced with Gibson bell knobs, a more stylish look compared to the original witch hat knobs.
The 1974 Gibson Byrdland comes with a worn vintage case.
