Gibson ES-225TD Sunburst 1959

 5.995,00

This is a Gibson ES-225TD from 1959. In 1959, only 728 units left the Gibson factory. At the time, the ES-225 came with one or two P-90 pickups and was usually equipped with the infamous long trapeze tailpiece, the same type Gibson used on the early Les Pauls and ES-295s.

This 16" fully hollowbody laminated maple guitar has a beautiful sunburst finish and single binding. The finish is still in excellent condition and has just the right amount of aging you would expect from an original '59.

The neck of this model has a pronounced C-shape and feels quite chunky, which is typical for guitars from that year. The bound rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays and the mother-of-pearl headstock logo complete the picture. We also recently had the Gibson professionally refretted.

The double P-90 pickups sound phenomenal: clear and lively. A great guitar for blues, honky tonk, rockabilly, and early rock ‘n’ roll, but can also effortlessly create a warm, jazzy atmosphere. The guitar is professionally set up with 11–49 strings and plays like butter.

When we received the Gibson, it had a Bigsby mounted on it. The original tailpiece was still present, but its pivot point was broken and this part had been replaced at the time with a good reproduction. We have since had the original tailpiece refitted. The pickguard is not original, but otherwise the guitar is completely original.

Comes with an early 1960s Lifton case with yellow lining.
