This Kalamazoo makes it clear again why we are so incredibly fond of vintage Kalamazoo guitars! The story behind this guitar is almost as special as the guitar itself.
We bought this Kalamazoo from the daughter of the original owner. Her father had bought the instrument in a Dutch music store in the late 1930s. The back of the headstock confirms this story. Gibson guitars shipped abroad in those days had a stamp on the back of the headstock stating that the guitar was "Made in the U.S.A." was.
The story of this Kalamazoo is so special that we have chosen to devote a blog post to this guitar, to follow this link.
This Kalamazoo has a solid "Boxed-X-Bracing" Spruce top with a beautiful warm Tobacco Sunburst and checkered binding. The body still has the "Made by Gibson" Export Label intact. The V-shape Mahogany Neck with Rosewood fretboard plays like butter and has a 45mm wide nut-width.
Verder is deze vintage Kalamazoo gitaar helemaal origineel van de stemknoppen tot de Tortoise slagplaat. Deze Kalamazoo is in een verbazingwekkende staat voor zijn leeftijd!
We decided to take the Kalamazoo to the capable hands of Willem Oostendorp for a refret and set-up. As a result, the Kalamazoo plays and sounds great!
Comes with case. The case also tells a special story, see blog post for more information.
