GTR Mastertone 5-String Banjo c. 1975
€ 895,00
The GTR 5-string banjo was made from 1974 to about 1978. Only a few hundred were built by Iida in Japan. GTR stands for George Gruhn, Tut Taylor and Randy Wood, three dealers/builders in the Nashville music scene in the 1970s.
These banjos are made in dark Mahogany and are known for their good value for money. They were available with four inlay patterns: Wreath, Hearts & Flowers, Flying Eagle and a deluxe Florentine pattern. Due to the small print run, they are now rare and loved by players and collectors.
This banjo is in good condition, almost no wear on the frets and general signs of use. The heel has a repaired crack, which is easy to see in the photo. The banjo has a Mahogany neck with a Rosewood fingerboard with white binding.
Comes with an original case.
