Levin Royal Sunburst 1944
€ 2.150,00
The 1944 Levin Royal Archtop is a special instrument from the legendary Swedish brand Levin. This particular model was built shortly after Levin moved to the larger former Rörstrand porcelain factory in Gothenburg in the summer of 1943, which employed around 70 craftsmen at the time!
The body has a width of 16.5 inches. The top is hand-carved from Romanian spruce, while the sides and back are made of maple. The beautiful sunburst finish is accentuated by a 4-ply binding around the body. Characteristic of the Royal models from after 1943 are the three-piece neck construction and the use of pearloid inlays instead of mother-of-pearl.
The neck is made of mahogany and has a comfortable C-profile, combined with a rosewood fingerboard with a flat radius. The pearloid block inlays on the fingerboard and the pearloid logo on the headstock give the instrument a distinctive look. The guitar also features a compensated ebony bridge, a trapeze “Royal” tailpiece (once re-soldered and now stable), and Grover Sta-Tite Gold-style tuning machines.
The guitar comes with the original, well-used case and a special letter from the daughter of one of the first owners.
