A rare 1961 Martin D-28. This is an excellent Bluegrass guitar with all the punch you expect from an older Martin.
This vintage Martin has a Spruce top and Brazilian Rosewood sides and back. The D-28 has a soft V-shape Mahogany neck with Ebony fretboard and is finished with a beautiful diamond volute. On the headstock we find the original Grover Rotomatics that stay in tune well.
Over the years, the Martin has had quite a few modifications. It's an awesome player-grade Martin. One of the previous owners must have been inspired by the iconic D-28 of Tony Rice (Clarence White). Similarities include the enlarged soundhole, missing of the Martin logo. Several years ago, the last owner requested a decal from Martin and had it placed on the headstock. Also, the pickguard is not original.
In addition to the enlarged soundhole, the bridge and bridge plate have been replaced (see photos), and the top was once finished with shellac. Furthermore, the Martin has been played intensively.
The Martin comes with a modern Martin case and CITES papers.
