The Silvertone Model 1457 Amp-in-Case from the 1960s is a special piece of American music history. This guitar was manufactured by Danelectro and sold through the Sears catalog, and was popular with teen bands and garage rock groups.
Production of the 1457 began in 1963, with a guitar that had two pickups and a built-in tube amp in the case. After 1963, several variations followed with one or two pickups and various color schemes.
The 1457 Red Burst model is the most sought-after thanks to its two unique lipstick pickups. The amplifier operates on 110 volts, so a transformer is required for use outside the United States. The amplifier also has a tremolo function, with footswitch. This set is completely original, except for the speaker.
Thanks to the lipstick pickups, the 1457 has a distinctive sound. In short, a special piece of musical history!
