Here we have a Silvertone Model 1446 “Chris Isaak” circa 1962. This is a beautifully preserved example of one of the best guitars ever sold under the Silvertone name through Sears.
This classy thinline Silvertone has a laminated maple body with a maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. The Silvertone is equipped with two “Seth Lover” mini humbuckers supplied by Gibson. The patent stickers on both pickups are still clearly legible. The striking white plastic trapezoid-shaped pickup rings are unique to this model.
This Silvertone was nicknamed “Chris Isaak” because the singer was often seen playing this type of guitar, even before Harmony and Silvertone were considered “cool.” Today, this model is rightly regarded as a true classic among affordable vintage American guitars.
All hardware is original, including the often missing plastic pickguard. The white pickup and switch rings are undamaged, which is rare. Furthermore, the Silvertone is completely original, from the Waverly tuning machines to the Bigsby tailpiece. The frets still look good, and the guitar has low action.
A real vintage gem from the early 60s! Comes with the original two-tone chipboard case.
