This is a 1960s Airline “Barney Kessel” Swingmaster made in the USA by Kay.
This rare Airline model has a fully hollow maple body with binding. The maple neck has a C-shaped profile and the bound rosewood fingerboard features mother-of-pearl “diamond” inlays.
The original single-line Kluson tuners have been replaced by modern repro tuners and the original bridge has been replaced by a (pointed) rosewood bridge. The rosewood bridge also covers some old holes for an ABR-1 bridge.
The Swingmaster is equipped with two strong Barney Kessel "Kleenex Box" pickups. This in combination with the later added out-of-phase selector is a real treat for the blues lovers among us!
If you're looking for a rich, vintage sound, don't pass up this beauty.
