Gibson L-50 “Script” 1946

A beautiful Gibson L-50 from c. 1946 with the desirable Gibson script logo. This is a very nice example of one of Gibson's best selling archtop guitars.
Due to the lack of a FON number we date this instrument to 1946 or 1947. As these are the only years Gibson has used this style of the Script logo.
This vintage Gibson has a solid, not to be confused with the later "pressed" top, spruce top and maple back and sides. The (replica) tortoise pickguard is a real jewel on this guitar!
The mahogany neck has a thick neck profile with a Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard. The back of the neck is sanded. But you can still see the original finish on the sides of the headstock. There are no cracks at the heel or head. Probably the neck has been sanded for “playability” purposes.
On the lower part of the back we find an old center seam crack. In the body we also find some cleats / reinforcements. The original tuners have been upgraded with modern (aged) Double Line Kluson tuners.
The Gibson has recently had a refret. The playability is therefore optimal.
The Gibson comes with a modern case.
