Guild F-40 1958
Out of stock
A rare vintage Guild F-40 Valencia 1958. This Guild was made in Hoboken, NJ.
This acoustic jumbo has a spruce top and laminated maple back and sides. On the headstock we find the original Waverly machine heads and the open book shape, almost "Gibson-esque". Guild changed the headstock style in 1962.
Like many Guilds from the 1950s/60s, this copy also has a reasonable belly. This problem was solved by a professional Luthier. De Luthier dismantled the bridge and compensated for the concave of the belly in the bridge. Result; a very nice to play guitar with a high saddle and low action.
The guitar has had a center seam crack repair in the past, see photos. The entire cap has also been replaced. Not strange for a guitar of 64 years old.
Comes with a very nice vintage case (one of the latches is broken, but is present).
