Gibson Style O “Artist Model” 1913
€ 6.395,00
The Gibson Style O “Artist Model” is undoubtedly one of the most iconic and striking guitars from Gibson’s early history. This 1913 model dates from the period when the Style O was the absolute top-of-the-line model in the Gibson catalog.
With its distinctive scroll, asymmetrical (Birch) body shape, and black-finished carved spruce top, this instrument was far ahead of its time. The Style O combined the construction principles of Orville Gibson’s mandolins with an innovative guitar design and went on to become one of the most remarkable designs in American guitar history.
This guitar is in fair condition and plays exceptionally well. It has two professionally repaired cracks on the back. The original tailpiece has been preserved, and the tortoise shell has been expertly stabilized by a professional luthier. The original bridge is, of course, included, but for everyday use, a beautifully crafted ebony bridge modeled after the slightly later Style O model has been installed. In addition, the guitar is equipped with StewMac Golden Age tuners and a reproduction tortoise shell pickguard. Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
For added stability, two additional braces have been installed internally using hide glue. Both the serial number on the label and the Factory Order Number are exceptionally legible.
Finding a suitable case for a Gibson Style O is often a challenge due to its unique body shape. That’s why this guitar comes with a perfectly fitting case, so the instrument can be safely transported and stored.
In short, a particularly beautiful 1913 Gibson Style O. Ready to rock out to Big Bill Broonzy’s riffs!
