Kay “Penncrest” Coronado 1966Kay “Penncrest” Coronado 1966
€ 1.025,00
Kay “Penncrest” Coronado, made in Chicago around 1965. This rare guitar was built by Kay, and the same model was also sold under the names Titan and Apollo.
Mahogany chambered body for extra resonance and lighter weight. The guitar has slight signs of wear, but is in very good condition considering its age. There is a unique jack input on the back, so your cable won't get in the way while playing.
Bolt-on mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, 25.5" scale length, and 19 frets. Straight neck with working truss rod. Plays smoothly with low action. Frets are in good condition. The neck has a medium-fat profile that fits comfortably in the hand, with a slight taper towards the headstock. The headstock features the original Double Line Kluson Deluxe tuners. These work well and hold the tuning nicely.
The guitar is also equipped with a Bigsby and two original Barney Kessel “Kleenex Box” pickups, comparable to P90s. Warm, full, jazzy sound from the neck pickup, and clear, biting, and more powerful from the bridge pickup. The wiring is traditional: a 3-way switch and separate volume and tone knobs for each pickup provide many sound options.
A rare and distinctive vintage guitar with original parts, lots of vibe, and a surprisingly versatile sound. Ready to play and suitable for everything from mellow jazz to fierce leads.
Comes with a (too large) case.
