Gibson Melody Maker D 1968

Out of stock

A 1968 Gibson Melody Maker D in the rare Custom color Sparkling Burgundy Red. We often receive real time capsules in our collection, but this is a very nice set.

We know from the original invoice that this Gibson Melody Maker D, together with an amplifier, was purchased in 1969 from a local music store (Music Town) in Michigan, Wyandotte, America. In addition to the invoice, the original Gibson Hang Tag has also been preserved in beautiful condition. The color and model name are specified again on the back of the Hang Tag. The Gibson also comes with a vintage strap that matches perfectly with the Sparkling Burgundy Red color.

This Gibson has a comfortable neck with rosewood fingerboard and dot inlays. The mahogany SG-style body is slightly thinner than, for example, an SG Standard. This makes it a compact and lightweight guitar. Apart from some buckle wear, this SG-style Melody Maker has stood the test of time beautifully.

Furthermore, the guitar is equipped with two single coil pickups, Gibson witch hat knobs and a "Maestro" Tremolo tailpiece. Everything about this guitar is original except the strings ;-).

A common problem with vintage SGs is having a whole crack or a head crack. This Gibson does not suffer from that! The playability of this Melody Maker is also fantastic. Despite the 1 9/16” nut, the neck feels nice and chunky!

This guitar comes with the original invoice from 1969 (!), Hang Tag and vintage sparkle red strap. There is also a newer case with the guitar.
