Here we have a Gretsch Electromatic 6182-3 “Corvette” 1954. The Corvette 6182 was originally offered in both a sunburst and natural finish. The natural model was called the Model 6183. Both guitars have a 16-inch (non-cutaway) body with unfound f-holes and a tortoise pickguard.
The Gretsch Corvette is a beautiful vintage guitar with laminated maple back and sides and a laminated spruce top. On the “Electromatic” headstock we find the characteristic Gretsch T-roof logo and zigzag motif. The original tuners have been replaced by modern Gotoh tuners. The original open-geared tuners are still present, but the buttons have been replaced for more modern ones.
The double-bound maple neck has a C-profile with a nut width of 1 11/16", somewhat similar to most Gibson guitars from the 1950s and early 1960s.
This vintage Jazzbox is equipped with a DeArmond Dynasonic single-coil pickup. Very strong and clear sounding pickups. The Gretsch has recently been professionally tuned with .12 flatwound strings.
Comes with an original Ess & Ess Gretsch case.
